Shoppe Reopening - Thursday 13th June

It’s been a long journey, but we are delighted to announce our Shoppe is almost ready to reopen and welcome you all back in!

Save the date: Thursday 13th June, 11am

What to expect?

Our beautiful grade II listed building has undergone a major refit and expansion, doubling its footprint, to restore the original character of the building -bringing to life the heritage beneath it. Features from the original building will be signposted with small plaques detailing dates and their backstories, including 17th century wooden beams and walls, the original fireplace from the old Corn Exchange and medieval stonework.

It will have the following new features:

  • ‘Heritage and history’ area at the front of the Shoppe sharing our origin stories as the home of the pork pie: Dickinson & Morris, Mrs King’s and Walker & Son.
  • Increased retail space – allowing for a greater range of both in-house made products, and more opportunity to stock locally sourced produce to compliment the core ranges (cheeses, condiments, beer, spirits, wines, chocolate, honey etc).
  • Food To Go area  hot and cold food can be purchased including handmade Pork Pies and savoury & sweet pastries from our bakers, breakfast rolls, sandwiches, toasted paninis, cakes, tea, coffee and more.
  • The Shoppe will host regular in-store tastings from other local artisan suppliers, as well as Pork Pie demonstrations in the coming months.

The new cafe, named The Tasting Room, will open a few weeks after this and be accessible from the Food To Go area and the Bell Centre. This new seated space echoes back to the roots of the original café in the 1910's called Ye Cosy Cafe.

LIMITED EDITION release

To celebrate the reopening of the stylishly refurbished and expanded store, our expert bakers have created a brand-new limited-edition Pork Pie to mark the occasion…

The Best of Melton Pork Pie

Just like the Shoppe, the new pie will bring together some of Melton Mowbray’s finest artisan produce – British outdoor-bred pork pie, topped with our famous ‘Paint the Town Red’ Red Ale Chutney and creamy Stilton from local dairy, Long Clawson, melted on top.

Local producer, Mr Pitchfork's Pickles makes this chutney especially for us as a bespoke recipe. It's tangy and packed with fruit which is infused with the marmalade and citrus notes from Round Corner Brewing's Red Ale.
